FAQ: What should I wear to pole class?

          The number one question new students ask before coming to San Francisco Pole and Dance, is What should I wear for pole class!? In a pole dance class, skin is essential for gripping the pole. Fabrics are slippy and extremely difficult to climb in. The essential clothing pieces for female identifying students include: 1. Tank top or T-shirt. You’ll likely end up taking this off but for many, it’s nice to feel a bit more covered (and less cold) at least until you start sweating during the warm up. And if you don’t want your belly exposed, you can keep it on! 2. Sports bra. Once you’ve started sweating, and begin to practice the conditioning portion of the workout, you may want to have your side body exposed so that you can more effectively work on armpit holds and inversion prep positions while standing on the ground.  3. Shorts (the shorter the better!) Foundations level students will try their hand at climbing for the first time. Having skin exposed to help you grip the pole so that you can try climbing. 4.
